I hate cigarettes. They stink and they kill. Small talk isn't really my thing either, although I understand it's sometimes the necessary doorway to something deeper. I'd prefer to tell a non-funny silly joke that will probably earn a sympathy laugh, then try to think of something not from the heart.

I strongly prefer people who are transparent about their intentions. I'm communicative, emotionally open, and very straightforward about what I feel and what I want, and I need that same level of openness from the person I'm dealing with.

One thing life has taught me is that if you're naturally kind and tend to have good intentions, you still have to be careful about who you give access to. Not everyone operates from the same place. There are people who deceive, manipulate, hide their true intentions, or present themselves as something they're not. That's been a hard lesson to learn, but I've learned it.
