About me

I think that when you're having a 'bad childhood' you know that it might not feel 'right', but you can't fully comprehend just how bad it is.

As a child I experienced a lot of negative feelings, that at the time I wouldn't be able to describe but now I would say were anxiety, unease, fear and an overwhelming desire to please and be accepted by those around me.

When you live with somebody who is so unpredictable, you never know how the day is going to go, and so you want to please them and keep them happy. But we all know that when you're a child, its hard to always live up to a standard of behaviour that a 'normal' parent would set, let alone one who might suffer with mental illness themselves or are neglectful and abusive.

When you're young, you need an environment that will allow you to learn and grow into a well functioning adult that is able to integrate into society, and progress. This is made very difficult when you are being raised or cared for in an unstable, abusive or neglectful home.

I have found that as a young adult I have struggled with 'normal' everyday things such as the self belief to complete small tasks, maintaining relationships with friends and trusting how things will turn out in the future. I live with a lot of unease, and find that my moods can hit super highs and super lows.

I believe this is due to trauma and neglect I experienced throughout my young childhood and early teen years
