Hi, or hi again. I have come back to the land of Date in Asia, after some problems.
I am an American in his thirties, but placed in the Philippines by my American employer. I love the Manila life, but I am trying to move beyond my little circle of expat colleagues into Filipina friends. Romantically, I am looking to move beyond, also: beyond a personal tragedy, beyond a fenced-off little world, and beyond the kind of relationship that everyone expects me to want. First, let's break some stereotypes:
1) I can like you if you are a single mother. In fact, single mothers have learned, more than anyone, how to love, how to be patient and how to be kind. Single mothers can also match me better, physically.
2) I can like you if you are a "bigger girl." There is an honesty about those who fit in their bodies. And, yeah... matching physically...
3) I can like you if you have history. I have history. While history might not be entirely history, history is the clay from which we are formed.
4) I can like you if you need money. If life has not treated you well financially, then you have developed a strength that few might ever know.
5) I can like you if you are older. Age brings experience, perspective and calm. And, um... matching physically, again...
Here are the things that might make me shy away:
1) If you ask for my numbers and socials too soon. This is a dating site. It is a safe place for us to get to know each other, without worrying about scams and stalking. That's kind of the point of it.
2) If you have 16,000 photos and no text on your profile.
3) If your preferred age range is much older than you are. Pretty sure we all know what that means.
4) If your profile is angry, or states obvious restrictions, like "No scammers." Nobody likes a scammer. It goes without saying, so there is no need to say it.
